Grease-era rockabillies who dropped out in 8th grade to join a biker gang and then got booted for being too rowdy. We can all relate. But really it’s like….totally cool Mad Max biker gang chic – which is actually very consistent with what I’ve seen from Coach 1941. Everything about this look is hard – even the soft semi-sheer fabrics have a serious edge to them. In addition, I sense a hint of abstraction/deconstruction in the design as well. Coach’s collection features fringed leather, studs on seam/stylelines and loads of embellishment. Part of me wants to say this show is also a trifle repetitive, with only sheer underling dresses and leather jackets…but Coach runway has a specific niche, so it’s hard to tell. Maybe it is a little monotonous…t first glance it looks like something I’d appreciate more on a piece-by-piece basis, looking at the construction and technique.
